Terms of service

These terms of service ("Terms") govern your use of the Run for Freedom website and your participation in our running events. By registering for an event or using our website, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Run for Freedom

Run for Freedom is operated by The Bitcoin Learning Center, a core initiative under The Kostro Foundation, located at 186/4 Charoenraj Rd, Wat Ket, Mueang, Chiang Mai, Thailand. We organize running events that combine athletic achievement with financial education.

2. Event registration

2.1 Eligibility

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when registering
  • Participants under 18 years of age must have registration completed by a parent or legal guardian
  • You must be physically capable of participating in your selected distance
  • You agree to follow all event rules and instructions from event staff

2.2 Registration confirmation

Your registration is confirmed only after successful payment processing. You will receive a confirmation email with your registration details and runner ID.

2.3 Registration transfer

Registration transfers may be permitted at our discretion. Contact us at info@runforfreedom.com to request a transfer. Transfer requests must be submitted at least 14 days before the event date.

3. Assumption of risk and waiver

3.1 Acknowledgment of risk

By registering for a Run for Freedom event, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Running and participating in road races and trail runs is a potentially hazardous activity that could cause injury or death
  • You are voluntarily participating in this event with knowledge of the risks involved
  • You certify that you are medically able and properly trained to participate in your selected distance
  • You are in good health and have no conditions that would impair your ability to safely participate

3.2 Specific risks

You understand and accept the risks associated with participating, including but not limited to:

  • Falls, collisions, and physical contact with other participants, volunteers, or spectators
  • Effects of weather conditions including heat, humidity, cold, rain, and sun exposure
  • Traffic and road/trail conditions
  • Terrain hazards including uneven surfaces, rocks, roots, and elevation changes
  • Encounters with animals (domestic and wild)
  • Dehydration, exhaustion, and other physical conditions
  • Medical emergencies

3.3 Release and waiver of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release, waive, and discharge Run for Freedom, The Bitcoin Learning Center, The Kostro Foundation, their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, sponsors, and partners from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising from your participation in the event, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

3.4 Medical authorization

You authorize event medical personnel to provide emergency medical treatment if needed. You understand that you are responsible for any medical expenses incurred.

4. Payment and refunds

4.1 Payment

  • All prices are displayed in Thai Baht (THB) and include applicable taxes
  • Payment is processed securely through Stripe
  • Registration is not complete until payment is successfully processed

4.2 Refund policy

  • More than 30 days before event: Full refund minus processing fees
  • 14-30 days before event: 50% refund
  • Less than 14 days before event: No refund
  • Event cancellation: If we cancel the event, you will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to a future event

Refund requests must be submitted to info@runforfreedom.com. Refunds are processed within 10 business days.

4.3 Event changes

We reserve the right to modify event dates, locations, routes, or distances due to circumstances beyond our control (weather, permits, safety concerns). Such changes do not automatically entitle participants to refunds.

5. Event rules and conduct

5.1 Participant conduct

You agree to:

  • Follow all instructions from event officials, volunteers, and emergency personnel
  • Wear your official race bib visibly at all times during the event
  • Stay on the designated course
  • Not use any performance-enhancing substances
  • Not transfer your race bib to another person
  • Treat other participants, volunteers, and spectators with respect
  • Dispose of trash at designated aid stations only

5.2 Disqualification

We reserve the right to disqualify participants who:

  • Violate event rules
  • Engage in unsportsmanlike conduct
  • Pose a safety risk to themselves or others
  • Use someone else's race bib
  • Cut the course or take shortcuts

Disqualified participants are not entitled to refunds.

6. Photo and media release

By participating in our events, you grant Run for Freedom and its partners the right to use photographs, video recordings, and other media of your participation for promotional purposes, including on our website, social media, and marketing materials, without compensation.

If you do not wish to be photographed, please contact us before the event at info@runforfreedom.com.

7. Personal property

You are responsible for your personal belongings. Run for Freedom is not liable for any loss, theft, or damage to personal property during our events.

8. Health and safety

8.1 Health declaration

By registering, you declare that you have no known medical conditions that would prevent safe participation, or that you have received medical clearance to participate.

8.2 Right to withdraw

We reserve the right to prevent any participant from starting or continuing the event if, in our judgment, they appear unfit to continue safely.

9. Website use

9.1 Account responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.

9.2 Prohibited activities

You agree not to:

  • Use the website for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with the proper functioning of the website
  • Submit false or misleading information

10. Intellectual property

All content on this website, including logos, text, graphics, and images, is the property of Run for Freedom or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not use our content without written permission.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Run for Freedom's liability for any claims arising from your use of our website or participation in our events is limited to the registration fee you paid.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Run for Freedom, The Bitcoin Learning Center, The Kostro Foundation, and their affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your participation in our events.

13. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of our website or participation in our events after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Chiang Mai, Thailand.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
